AWANA is a non-denominational children and youth ministry that meets each Wednesday night during the school year at Trace Creek Baptist Church. The program is bible based and is found in thousands of churches all over the world. The intent of the ministry is to instill bible knowledge in the young people of our church through study and memorization. Each clubber can progress through their handbooks at their own pace, and as the do so, they are memorizing and reciting hundreds of bible verses as well as explaining the meaning of the verse and key words.
Parents are an important part of the process,
because the clubbers need to be able to “practice” their memorization skills
and moms and dads are good listeners.
Parents are welcome to visit with their clubbers on club nights to see
exactly what is so exciting about coming to AWANA every Wednesday night. We urge parents to bring their children to
club and stay for the adult bible study conducted by the pastor each week. If transportation is a problem, Trace Creek
Baptist Church has vans that run routes in the New Johnsonville area and
arrangements can be made to pick up clubbers by calling the church office
(535-2641) no later that noon of each Wednesday.
The AWANA calendar mirrors the Humphreys County
School System. Any Wednesday that
school is closed, the AWANA clubs will not meet. This also includes dismissals and closures due to weather
conditions. There may be other times that warrant canceling AWANA, and clubbers
will be notified when this occurs.
Clubbers are presented awards throughout the year,
with a Family Fellowship and Awards Night at the end of the club year. This is a time for families to join their
clubbers as the entire group enjoy a meal together and make the final award
recognitions for the year.
